Rap Legend to KVRR Viewers: “Come Check Out Your Homeboy Ice Cube”
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — He has appeared in some of your favorite movies from “Boyz n the Hood” to “Barbershop”.
But right now, Ice Cube wants you to focus on his history making music as he heads to The Lights in West Fargo on Friday night.
KVRR’S TJ Nelson got a chance to talk with the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member last week.
A legendary figure in music, movies and BIG3 basketball , Ice Cube has been to North Dakota before, but it’s all a blur.
“Yeah we hit it once, um, think we. We had to do it one time. I’ve been so many places man. Sometimes it becomes a blur.”
With a career stretching from his gangsta rap days with N.W.A. in the 1980’s to his 11th solo studio album expected this fall, Ice Cube has seen and done pretty much everything.
“After you’ve been in the game almost 40 years for me, you want to make sure all our fans can see you.”
That is why Mr. Cube added West Fargo, North Dakota to his tour schedule.
“You know these last four or five years I’ve been really on a quest to kind of go to every nook and cranny where I know there’s Ice Cube fans and make sure they get a chance to see me live. You know, maybe they’ll be fans another 40 years.”
“It’s nice cause not everybody can afford to travel a long distance to see their favorite artist so it’s nice you’re making the rounds of the smaller markets,” said KVRR anchor TJ Nelson.
“You know I just really been on my people really to make sure, you know everywhere they want to see me there we go,” responded Ice Cube.
This Friday night, he will take the stage at The Lights in West Fargo to bring his fans decades worth of his music and in his own way.
Don’t expect flames or pyro.
“You know I’m not a pyro guy you know I’m a rip it and rip it type of MC.”
He is promising a journey through West Coast hip hop, an homage to his movies and just a downright fun show.
“That’s what it’s all about. Can’t wait to get there and have some fun so do yourself a favor and come check out your homeboy Ice Cube.”
He also says more acting roles and productions are on the way since he is in the process of fixing scripts and getting deals in place.
If you want to see him live in concert on Friday night, great tickets are still available at IceCube.com or Ticketmaster.com.
