Small plane lands in cornfield near Battle Lake, Minnesota

BATTLE LAKE, Minn. (KVRR) — No one was injured when a Piper Super Cub airplane lost power and was forced to land in a corn field near Battle Lake, Minnesota on Saturday.

Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office says the 41-year-old male pilot from Kindred, North Dakota lost power as he approached the landing strip.

The plane touched down and ended up its top. The pilot and four-year-old passenger were not hurt.

There was minimal visible damage to the plane. NTSB will be handling the investigation.

The “Gathering of Planes” in Battle Lake is in its 18th year.
