RANSOM CO., N.D. (KVRR) — Fort Ransom State Park south of Valley City is about to get a major campsite upgrade.

Sen. John Hoeven announced that nearly $1 million in funding is being awarded to the state park for water and electrical upgrades.

The grant will be used to renovate nearly two dozen campsites by upgrading electrical service and adding new water hydrants.

The funding comes from the National Park Service.

Hoeven says it’ll provide “necessary updates and safety for an improved visitor experience.”

“It’s crucial that North Dakotans are able to enjoy the attractions of our state in a secure environment,” said Hoeven.
