Prairie Public and AARP hosted a debate between the candidates in Minnesota’s 7th Congressional district.

Republican Rep. Michelle Fischbach and her Democratic challenger A.J. Peters talked about everything from the crisis in the Middle East to social security to inflation.

The candidates also weighed in on the Farm Bill which is important to thousands of people living in the 7th district.

It expired in September and there is still no deal on a new bill.

“Representative Fischbach and the GOP led House has not even voted on the floor for their Farm Bill. And they’re blaming all of the Democrats,” said Peters.

“This was a bipartisan bill, this came out of the House committees, the House Agriculture Committee on a bipartisan vote. The Senate Democrats have not even introduced a Farm Bill,” replied Fischbach.

Fischbach is seeking her third term in Congress.

Peters lost races for Minnesota State Senate in 2020 and 2022.
