North Dakota Association for the Blind hosts annual Walk for Vision

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — North Dakota Association for the Blind holds its yearly Walk for Vision at NDSU’s Crossroads Campus Lutheran Center.

The walk is a way to bring awareness to those in our community with vision issues.

The NDAB estimates that around 24,000 people in North Dakota are affected by uncorrectable sight loss, and that 25% of those people are considered legally blind.

Supporters who couldn’t make it outside were also able to do a virtual walk to support the cause.

Allan Peterson, North Dakota Association for the Blind, says, “We’ve had judges, we’ve had lawyers, we’ve had teachers. There’s so much that can be done, particularly now with advances in technology, that people who are blind are employable and we want that message to be acknowledged and known.”

Walks are also held on dates throughout the year in Grand Forks, Bismarck, Minot, and Williston.
