Locally developed role-playing game being tested at Paradox Comics and Cards
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – A local board game developer is showing off his take on the classic tabletop role-playing games during playtesting at Paradox Comics.
Dustin Mckay has been working on Demayth for over 10 years. It started as a way to apply rules to the imaginary games he played as a child, and has evolved from there.
The game is a fresh spin on games like Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder, but Demayth incorporates both deck building and dice into its rules.
Mckay says that part of the aim is to simplify the rules and make the game approachable to new players, even if they’ve never played a tabletop RPG before.
“I’ve had players who were younger starting the game, now they’re adults, but they started at 15 or even 12-years-old, they grabbed a deck, jumped into the game and were like ‘Oh this is really easy to play.’ And now they’re experimenting with everything.”
Mckay will be testing Demayth every Saturday at Paradox Comics. You can find more information on the game with this story on the Demayth website.
