Gov. Walz Announces $5 Million for Food Charities

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR) — Governor Tim Walz announces $5 million in new funding to put food on tables across the state.
Walz and the first lady joined volunteers to stock shelves at the Neighborhood House food shelf in St. Paul. Funding is coming from the American Rescue Plan Act which helped families following COVID.
The money is going to help food shelves amid increased visits and strains on the emergency food system.
Walz said, “This is a stressful time for families when we see a lot of commercials and things about abundance and families of just trying to get by and whether it’s food security or housing security. These are the two priorities that we have continued to focus on and will continue to focus on.”
The Department of Children, Youth, and Families will partner with The Food Group to distribute funds to food shelves across the state.
