LIVE: The Center of Attention
FARGO — Most of us spend a lot of time sitting at the dinner table on Thanksgiving.
And while the plates and dishes come and go, the centerpiece on the table is going to have all eyes on it most of the day.
That’s why the flower folks at Shotwell Floral in South Fargo are sharing some tips for you to make your own centerpiece at home.
Designer Nancy Dewey got us started from scratch, teaching us how to spot and buy the freshest stems, then how to condition them so they last and give you the most bang for your buck.
She walked us through the top rules to keep your cut flowers and greens from spoiling once you get them home and get them into water or oasis floral foam.
She also talked us through each step of building a beautiful arrangement, including how to match a container to your floral elements, how to design a piece that fits the space you need it for, and how to decide which flowers look best together.
For details, and to see her finished piece come together, check out the videos; each one goes over a separate stage of design.
