Salvation Army Gives Free Meals Day Before Thanksgiving

The organization says they dished out between 200 and 225 meals to those in need.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Around a time of such abundance – the Salvation Army is acutely aware of those who have too little.

That’s why they always make the day before Thanksgiving a point of emphasis when it comes to feeding the less fortunate.

“That’s really our goal,” said Major Abe Tamayo. “To meet the whole of the person, give them a really special holiday, and a sense of belonging when we gather together.”

Volunteers were of course vital in making the distribution of 225 meals possible. They say, though, that it doesn’t even really feel like giving up your time when you’re helping such a worthy cause.

“It’s a very rewarding organization, very well organized,” said volunteer Scott Kadlec.

“You come away from here getting more than what you really give. And I think that’s what the Salvation Army’s all about.”
