Human Rights Commission Announces Start of 23rd Human Rights Award
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Nominations are now being accepted for the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Human Rights Awards.
It’s an award that was started 23 years ago by the Fargo Human Rights Commission.
It recognizes people and organizations that embody the vision of MLK Jr. by promoting respect, equity and acceptance of diversity.
Human Rights Commission members hope that this award can help bring the community together.
“This really puts not only the individuals doing this work on stage, so folks can see what they’re doing. But also shares with the community that who we are as a Human Rights Commission in what we stand for and what we will hope to continue. Not only in Martin Luther King Jr’s vision but the city of Fargo’s,” said Zoe Absey, Human Rights Commissioner.
Nominations are open on the city’s website until January 1.
