Trooper Assaulted While Arresting Moorhead Man For Drunk Driving With Kids In Vehicle In Fargo

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Moorhead man is accused of assaulting a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper while being arrested for drunk driving in Fargo.

Captain Bryan Niewind says 44-year-old Oscar Lee Jr. was stopped around 4:30 this afternoon in a parking lot in the 2500 block of 23rd Avenue South.

Lee was suspected of being intoxicated and had kids in the vehicle.

When he was placed under arrest for DUI, Lee began kicking at officers and hit a trooper several times.

He continued to resist arrest and threatened officers until he was put into the patrol vehicle.

The trooper was treated at Essentia Health for minor injuries.

Lee was arrested for DUI, DUI refusal, driving under revocation, resisting arrest, assault on a peace officer and terrorizing.

He was taken to Cass County Jail.
