UPDATE: Armed Suicidal Man Shot And Killed By Officers on Turtle Mountain Reservation Identified

UPDATE: A GoFundMe account has identified the shooting victim as Jordan Parisien.  The fundraiser was started by Ella Davis for her cousin, Linus Parisien, Jordan’s father.

She writes, “Linus’ parents and siblings have passed away. He is the last member of his family, and he does not have the financial means in this economy to afford his son’s burial.”

BELCOURT, N.D. (KVRR) — An armed suicidal man is dead after being shot by officers on Turtle Mountain Reservation.

Officers from Bureau of Indian Affairs and Turtle Mountain Agency responded to a home on Sunday morning west of Belcourt on a report of a suicidal man with a weapon.

During the response shots were fired and the man died at the scene.

Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Indians say it was an isolated event, the scene is secure and there is no threat to the public.

Chairman Jamie Azure says a statement was released after rumors of an active shooter.

The shooting is under investigation by the FBI and Bureau of Indian Affairs.
