UPDATE: Young Child Being Treated For Accidental Gunshot Wound Near Deer Creek, MN Has Died

OTTER TAIL CO., Minn. (KVRR: 5PM Update 12/3024) —

A young boy has died from an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound in Otter Tail County.

An online fundraiser started on behalf of Kaitlin Sweere identifies the boy as 3 1/2 year old Rudy.

The sheriff’s office says the shooting happened around 5:40 p.m. Sunday in Oak Valley Township southeast of Deer Creek, Minnesota.

They say the child got a hold of a gun and accidentally shot himself.

He was taken to Astera Hospital in Wadena where he later died.

The incident is under investigation by Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.

Nearly five thousand dollars has been raised to help celebrate Rudy’s life.

UPDATE: The Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the child that shot himself is a 3 1/2 year old boy. He has since died from his injury.

It happened around 5:40 pm. in Oak Valley Township southeast of Deer Creek, Minnesota.

The child was taken to Astera Hospital in Wadena and the current condition is unknown.

The incident is under investigation by the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office.
