Clay County Detox Facility Opens in Moorhead

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — Clay County’s brand new detox center is now open and the its first patients have begun recieving treatment.

Local media was invited to tour the Clay County Withdrawl Management Detox Facility in October.

Since then, they finished installing locking mechanisms for their doors and received approval from the Minnesota Department of Health on the building’s maximum occupancy.

The facility can hold up to 32 people, twice the number that could be housed in their previous location.

“Addiction affects all of us in the community. All walks of life. It doesn’t matter what that looks like, we just want to make sure that we maintain a good path forward for treatment to sobriety and reducing that stigma,” said Clay County Commissioner Jenny Mongeau.

She says they are working with other municipalities to install bus stops for the facility’s new location in north Moorhead.
