Carson Wentz to Start Sunday for KC Chiefs
FORMER BISON QB SET TO MAKE START IN WEEK 18.
KANSAS CITY, MO (KVRR) –Former NDSU Bison quarterback, now backup for the Kansas City Chiefs, Carson Wentz is set to make his first start for the 2-time defending champions on Sunday vs. the Denver Broncos.
The Kansas City Chiefs (15-1) have locked up the number-1 seed in the AFC playoffs and have elected to rest key players. QB Patrick Mahomes will not play in the regular season finale, paving the way for Wentz, who signed with KC in the offseason, to make his first start of the season.
Wentz’s last NFL start came in Week 18 last year with the Rams. He went 17-of-24 for 163 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in that game.
Wentz was drafted 2nd overall in the 2016 NFL draft after playing at North Dakota State. He had stops in Philadelphia, Indianapolis, Los Angeles and now Kansas City.
The Chiefs are on the road Sunday, January 5, to take on the Denver Broncos (9-7) who need a win to lock up a playoff spot. The game airs on CBS at 3:25 P.M. CT.
