Rep. Julie Fedorchak Begins Term in Congress
North Dakota's first female representative in the House was sworn in on Friday.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Now that she’s officially a member of the U.S. House of Representatives, Julie Fedorchak is excited to get to work.
The former North Dakota Public Service Commissioner began her term on Friday.
Her first order of business was to vote for Speaker of the House Mike Johnson to continue in that role.
Fedorchak has also been appointed to serve on the Committee on Energy and Commerce.
It’s the first time in 14 years that a freshman congress member has been appointed to this specific committee.
Fedorchak said she’s not at all intimidated by the two-year term served by House members and she’s excited to be able to show North Dakotans her successes when she runs for re-election.
“This is the people’s house. The House of Representatives is designed by our founders to be completely reflective of the current political temperature in our country. And so I’m very excited to be part of that,” she said.
“I want to be able to point to the things – to North Dakotan citizens – that I did on their behalf.”
Fedorchak said that her primary goals revolve around energy usage in the United States and making sure that North Dakotans receive adequate amounts of support from the federal government.
Gov. Kelly Armstrong will hold a press conference Monday to announce his appointment to fill Fedorchak’s PSC seat.
