Shoes For Kids Commemorates Mark Knutson On Giving Hearts Day

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Shoes For Kids is celebrating this Giving Hearts Day by commemorating the memory of Mark Knutson.

This year Shoes For Kids teamed up with SCHEELS and 20 volunteers to run or walk continuously on a treadmill for 12 hours to raise funds.

In 2010, Fargo Marathon founder Mark Knutson launched Shoes For Kids since he believed that all kids should have the opportunity to stay active and healthy.

He died in 2023.

The non-profit is dedicated to providing athletic shoes to elementary-age kids in need.

Over the past 15 years, they have donated more than 20,000 pairs of shoes.

“It’s a great cause and a great legacy for Mark and something that’s near and dear to my family’s heart, so I’m happy to help out,” said Kathy Botnen, Volunteer.

The shoes they plan to purchase will be donated to kids in the area before the start of the next school year.
