ST. PAUL (KVRR) — A St. Paul man has been arrested and charged for the theft of a bronze statue of a young F. Scott Fitzgerald two weeks ago.

The statue of the Minnesota native sat outside his former school building on Dale Street.

Police say 37-year-old Dustan Schmitt attempted to sell the statue, which had been cut up into pieces, last week at Northern Metal Recycling.

An employee contacted police.

Additional pieces of the statue are still missing.

Schmitt is charged with one count of felony receiving stolen property.
