WEST FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Voters in the West Fargo Public Schools district made their voices heard about the district’s latest bond referendum worth nearly $163 million.

Only one of the three questions on the ballot passed, but it was the largest.

Question 1 included nearly $100 million for projects needed with the next five years including the completion of Heritage Middle School and Horace High School.

It got nearly 66% support with a vote of 4,926-2,597,

The other two questions failed.

Question two included $58 million in projects that are anticipated in the next six to ten years.

That failed with around 59% voting yes, just short of the 60% needed.

And the third question was for a $5 million sheet of ice expansion at Veterans Memorial Arena.

That failed with 57% voting no.

School leaders say tonight’s vote allows them to move forward with addressing growth and consistency needs for the district.

“I want to thank the many individuals, organizations, and community groups that took the time to learn about this proposal and engage in meaningful discussions. I also want to recognize our School Board members and administrative team for their leadership and dedication throughout this process, said Beth Slette, Superintendent of Schools.

The work ahead is exciting, and we are eager to get started. Our community has made it clear that they value and expect a strong educational system, and we will move forward with that responsibility in mind, ensuring that every decision benefits our learners, staff, and families. We are grateful for the trust our community continues to place in us to educate all learners for tomorrow’s world.”
