Theft Trial For Faith and Charles Dixon Pushed Back To April

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The trial for a local activist and her husband who are accused of theft is being pushed back to April.
It was initially supposed to start this month, but a new lawyer has delayed things.
Faith and Charles Dixon pleaded not guilty to the charges Monday during an arraignment in Bismarck-Mandan.
Even though their charity, Faith4Hope, was located in north Fargo, the case is being tried in the South Central Judicial District since the grant money in question came from the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction.
Prosecutors say Dixon requested more than $1.5 million and was awarded $350,000 for her non-profit.
An investigation found money was deposited in March of 2022 into business accounts started by family members.
The grant money was listed to assist in building free comprehensive after-school programs and other non-profits.
Several businesses included Be the Light Dance Studio, Revolution Records, P’s & Q’s Etiquette, and Double Barrel BBQ.
Faith’s father was registered to Double Barrel BBQ, the others were registered to her brother and to a sister-in-law.
The Dixons are also accused of moving thousands of dollars to their personal account for cash, fast food and groceries.
DPI requested a transaction record, but was able to account for only about $137,000.
Faith Dixon is charged with five counts of theft and Charles two counts.
Their trial is set to begin on April 22.
