KVRR Connections: More People Are Saying “Hello” To North Dakota
BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) — More and more people are making North Dakota their getaway destination.
Last year, the state saw a nearly 9% increase in airport arrivals and a 10% rise in border crossings.
Hotel revenues climbed to $548 million, a nearly 6% increase.
Tax receipts for accommodations and food services surpassed $2.2 billion.
That is in spite of a slowing economy and decrease in consumer spending across the country.
North Dakota’s ‘HELLO’ campaign continues to expand awareness with a $4.2 million media budget, generating 438 million media impressions.
A 2024 study with Longwoods International confirmed that visitors are staying longer and engaging in more activities.
Tourism and Marketing Director Sara Otte Coleman says North Dakota continues to see growth, despite being outspent on tourism campaigns by competitors.
