LIVE: Chef shares Indigenous Cuisine at International Potluck

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — While the International Potluck usually features cuisine from around the globe, this month’s meal comes from a lot closer to home.

In partnership wiht Heart-n-Soul Community Cafe and The Indigenous Association, they’re bringing a curated Indigenous meal crafted by Ho Chunk Winnebago Chef Candace Stock.

The meal will feature staples such as a Three Sisters Salad, Elk, Bison and Wild Rice.

Stonk said that she’s excited to get the oppurtunity to share her cooking and culture with the community.

“When it comes to food and people, we are each other’s medicine. The land provides us with medicine, and so it’s a very loving, reciprocal relationship. And we love partnering with Heart-n-Soul, because that is what they do. That is their mission.”

There is no need to bring a dish to the potluck. It will feature a Ziisbaakdoke Giizis Menu including: Three Sisters Salad, Hazelnut Kanuchi (Cherokee Soup) with Roasted Squash, Chimichurri Elk & Bison Skewers with Wild Rice Pilaf & Cornbread, Mother Hubbard Squash Cake, Blueberry Wojape, Oat & Walnut Crumble.
