FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The Convention Center Project Committee is leaving Fargo City Hall and heading out of town.

A two-day trip is planned for Monday and Tuesday to tour River’s Edge Convention Center in St. Cloud and Mayo Civic Center in Rochester.

The group is tasked with developing a new convention center in Fargo after voters approved an increase in the lodging tax last November.

They expect to have initial requests for proposals issued by the end of April.

The cost for the new center and hotel complex is estimated between $40 and $45 million, to cover the cost of land and construction.
