Moorhead’s acting deputy police chief placed on paid administrative leave
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) – Moorhead’s acting deputy police chief has been placed on paid administrative leave.
Moorhead City Manager Dan Mahli tells KVRR Local News that Captain Deric Swenson, who is also a police department spokesman, was placed on administrative leave after a complaint was filed.
The allegations in the complaint have not been released. It’s also not clear whether the complaint was filed by someone inside, or outside department.
An internal email from Police Chief Shannon Monroe late Friday afternoon indicates that Swenson was placed on leave “effective immediately.”
Swenson has been employed by the city since November, 2000.
A statement from the city of Moorhead says Swenson is responsible for “administering funds, preparing invoices, schedules, budgets, resolutions and settlements, functioning as department information officer and city-wide representative to regional committees, boards and panels, and related work as required.”
Swenson has not responded to a request for comment.
