Winter Storm Watch Issued: Fargo Public Works Switching Gears to Plow Snow

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) –Unfortunately, it is no April Fools joke, this week we are under a winter storm watch with an expected six inches of snow.

“We’re anticipating some rain and weather coming in tomorrow. The National Weather Service has the winter storm watch until 9 am Thursday morning I believe. And we’re anticipating the moisture coming down as rain tomorrow on Tuesday, transitioning over to snow sometime on Wednesday morning,” said Corey Houim, Fargo Public Works Services Manager.

Compared to this time last year, the weather has dropped significantly from temperatures in the fifties to thirties with snow and rain. While the team has been working on pothole patching and street sweeping, starting late Monday evening they will make a quick turnaround to plow snow.

“The whole crew will be coming back tonight and then we’ll be fully staffed to run around the clock for twelve-hour shifts until we throttle back and get done with the cleanup. Tonight when the folks come in at 11 pm, tonight we’ll be doing plow prep, so we’ll be going through all of our equipment check and the cutting edges, tires, oil, gas, things like that. Make sure everything’s ready to go,” said Houim.

Fargo Public Works wants to also remind people to plan ahead of time for your travel and follow parking guidelines.

“Plan accordingly and drive safely. Try to give yourself as much time as you can if we get that six to eight inches and you’re driving on top of ice,” said Houim.
