Moorhead swears in Chris Helmick as new police chief

MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — The City of Moorhead swears in its new police chief.

Chris Helmick came from across the river where he served the Fargo Police Department since 2001.

He reached the title of Captain and also served with the Criminal Investigation Division, Neighborhood Services Division and the Professional Standards Division.

Helmick and his family are longtime residents of Moorhead.

He replaces Shannon Monroe who stepped down after more than 30 years with the department.
