DFL Leadership Holds Town Hall at Concordia
The event was part of a statewide tour aiming to spark conversations regarding the impacts the Trump administration's cutbacks will have on the lives of Minnesotans.
MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR – Governor Tim Walz didn’t just stop by Dilworth during his visit to Clay County – he also spoke at a town hall meeting on the Concordia College campus.
It was hosted by Sen. Rob Kupec and Majority Leader Sen. Erin Murphy.
It’s part of a string of events put on by the DFL to discuss how the cutbacks of the Trump administration are harming the average Minnesotan.
The room at the Barry Auditorium was packed, with the crowd spilling out into the entrance.
Kupec says that all of them will be impacted, especially when it comes to healthcare.
“Congress passed an $880 billion dollar cut, which they say will not impact Medicaid and Medicare,” said Kupec.
“I may only be a math minor, but when you do the math, you’re like ‘I don’t know how you get that cut without touching those programs.’ And you know, the number of Minnesotans – it’s like 41 percent of kids have some kind of Medicaid funding to help them get their healthcare.”
The tour had prior stops in St. Paul and Duluth and now moves on to St. Cloud and Stillwater.
