Group Of Homeowners Sue City of Horace Over High Special Assessments

HORACE, N.D. (KVRR) — A group of fifteen homeowners in Horace is suing the city over special assessments.
In a statement by their attorney, Brandon Erickson with O’Keeffe O’Brien Lyson, they claim the city is violating North Dakota law with extraordinarily high special assessments that could be cause for foreclosure on their homes.
They also claim a history of improper communication and that the city neglected to notify them of the special assessment process.
Erickson says many won’t be able to pay these unexpected amounts.
They are requesting a jury trial with the goal of having the special assessments deemed void and illegal under North Dakota law.
