FARGO — Commuters who take Interstate-94 into Fargo and Moorhead are dealing with significant traffic delays due to construction on the Red River Bridge.

Crews are replacing the bridge’s deck overlay, rebuilding the concrete approach slabs and doing other structural repairs.

Lane closures for the project began last week and there are nightly lane closures, bringing the number of lanes going in each direction down to one from 8 p.m. until 5 a.m.

The bridge work is expected to last into October.

MNDOT has begun work on installing fiber optic cables, message boards, and traffic cameras.

That project goes from the I-94 bridge to east of Highway 336 until August.

Starting Tuesday, motorists will also encounter lane closures in both directions on I-94 between Rothsay and Fergus Falls for concrete resurfacing on eastbound I-94.
