Former Salon Professional Academy controller charged with felony theft

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — The former controller for Salon Professional Academy in Fargo is charged with felony theft for stealing around $50,000.

34-year-old Alexis Engelking was arraigned on the charge last Friday.

Court records show Engelking would alter and inflate her own paychecks and at times issue herself two paychecks instead of just one.

Co-owner Jodi Brown told detectives that she did approve a $12,000 private loan to close on a new house, but Engelking issued herself two, $12,000 payments.

It was later learned she used one of the payments to pay back money she allegedly stole while working at Fargo Linoleum.

Brown says Engelking has returned nearly $40,000.

Her next court hearing is set for July 16.
