Assault leads to pursuit of suspect and large police presence in North Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — An 18-year-old Grand Forks man is arrested for simple assault – domestic violence after an incident at a home and a chase with police.

Around 6:45 p.m., officers determined they had probable cause to arrest Edward Lassonde and tracked him down to a home in the 1300 block of 8th Avenue North.

Lassonde was outside the residence but fled on foot.

A perimeter was set up resulting in a large police presence in the area.

Police eventually made contact with Lassonde by phone and he surrendered.

They say he was hiding in a garage approximately one block from where he initially fled.

He also faces charges of criminal trespass and refusal to halt.

The investigation is ongoing.
