Former NDSU star QB Lance to start for Los Angeles in Hall of Fame Game

LOS ANGELES (KVRR) – Former North Dakota State star quarterback Trey Lance will be starting for the Los Angeles Chargers in the Hall of Fame Game. Head Coach Jim Harbaugh made the announcement, stating that Lance is expected to the first half and into the third quarter.

The Hall of Fame Game is set for this Thursday at 7:00 p.m. between the Chargers and the Detroit Lions in Canton, Ohio.

Lance signed with the LA Chargers in April on a one-year deal worth up to $6.2 million, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The former Bison QB has become a journeyman early in his pro career. Lance was selected third overall in the 2021 draft by the San Francisco 49ers. With San Fran, Lance started four games.

In 2023, the Dallas Cowboys traded for Lance, but he did not play that season. His first Cowboys start came in the 2024 regular season finale vs. the Washington Commanders. In that game, Lance completed 20 of 34 passes for 244 yards without a touchdown or interception, while running for 26 yards on six carries in a 23-19 last-second loss.
