Narveson Sentenced to 60 Years in Prison
20 of the years are set to be suspended.
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – The man convicted of murdering another inside a Grand Forks bar in 2024 has now learned his fate.
Nicholas Narveson was sentenced on August 1, 2025, after he was found guilty of murder and other counts, including terrorizing and reckless endangerment. He received a sentence of 60 years in jail, with 20 of those being suspended.
Narveson was found guilty in June 2025 in regard to the Independence Day 2024 shooting at Sledster’s Food and Brew in Grand Forks. On that day, Narveson drew his gun inside the bar and fired multiple shots at James Jorgenson, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Narveson fled from the bar on foot but was later found by police and arrested.
In addition to the 20 suspended years, he was also given credit for 390 days’ time served.
