FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The headline attraction of the event was a showdown between short-legged dog breeds to see who was the fastest – but you could also see furry friends of all shapes and sizes at Pup-A-Palooza.

The one-of-a-kind event took place at the North Dakota Horse Park.

The day got underway with a dog contest that had unique categories like “It’s So Ugly, It’s Cute” and “Most Majestic Tail.”

Our own Emily Welker was on the judging panel for those contests.

Then it was on to the races, with corgis and dachshunds squaring off for short-legged supremacy.

Event hosts said the number of organizations involved with the event showed the collaborative spirit of the community.

“We’re so supportive of one another, we look out for one another, no matter what the cause is, we really do have each other’s back,” said Travis Hopkins of 95.9 KRFF Radio Free Fargo.

The event also benefited 4 Luv of Dog Rescue in a few ways – they had free-will donations and a 50/50 raffle to raise money for the organization.
