Suspect in stolen vehicle crashes head-on into Beltrami County deputy’s vehicle during chase

BELTRAMI CO., Minn. (KVRR) — A Beltrami County deputy is hurt after a suspect in a stolen vehicle crashes into the deputy’s vehicle head-on.
The deputy was taken to an area hospital and later released with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect, 26-year-old Jath Vincent, was taken to a medical facility with non-life-threatening injuries and remains there in-custody awaiting formal charges.
The incident started around 9:30 this morning with an investigation into the stolen vehicle in a mobile home park west of Bemidji.
When the deputy tried to stop Vincent, he fled and later crashed into the deputy’s vehicle.
Sheriff Jason Riggs said in a statement, “As the Sheriff, I would like to express my extreme appreciation to the deputy that was injured today, as well as all law enforcement, for the sacrifices that they make and the risks they take to protect our communities.
This appreciation does not end with those wearing the badge, but extends to the families that support their loved ones in a profession that can be very dangerous.”
