Funeral held for one of the victims of Annunciation School and Church shooting last month

MINNEAPOLIS (KVRR) — A funeral was held this afternoon for one of the young victims shooting victims at Annunciation School and Church on August 27.
Services were held for 8-year-old Fletcher Merkel.
At the request of the family, news crews were not allowed onsite, but the service was livestreamed by family permission.
The service was held at Mt. Olivet Lutheran Church and the family requested that people “please wear bright colors” and, in lieu of flowers, consider making a contribution to a fund created in Fletcher’s memory.
Gov. Tim Walz and First Lady Gwen Walz were in attendance.
A celebration of life will be held for the other fatal shooting victim, 10-year-old Harper Moyski, next Sunday at the Lake Harriet Bandshell.
The last child being treated at Children’s Minnesota after the shooting has been released.
On Saturday, 12-year-old Lydia Kaiser was discharged from the hospital.
In an update on Lydia’s GoFundMe, the organizer says Lydia will have to have another surgery in the near future to replace the piece of skull that was removed to let her brain swell.
Lydia was injured while protecting her friend and was one of the 21 people injured in the shooting which left two young kids dead.
12-year-old Sophia Forchas remains at Hennepin Healthcare in critical condition with a bullet in her brain.
The attacker died by suicide.
