Update: North Dakota BCI investigating death of inmate at Walsh County Jail

WALSH COUNTY JAIL

GRAFTON, N.D. (KVRR) — The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office and the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating the death of an inmate at the Walsh County Jail.

According to a release made by the Walsh County Sheriff’s Office, just after 10:30 Sunday morning, Oct. 5, correctional officers noticed a male inmate suffering from what appeared to be a medical emergency.

The sheriff’s office says that correctional officers and sheriff’s deputies immediately began life-saving measures and called paramedics and an ambulance to the jail.

Attempts to resuscitate the individual were not successful and the inmate died.

The Walsh County Sheriff’s Office says they will release the name of the inmate after next of kin are notified.

Walsh County Sheriff Ron Jurgens will provide more information on the investigation as it becomes available.
