FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – One person was hospitalized and part of a twin home is almost a total loss after a structure fire in southwest Fargo on Saturday evening.

The Fargo Fire Department says they began receiving calls regarding the fire just after 10:00 P.M. on October 12 and dispatched units to 5110 48th Avenue South.

When they arrived, they saw heavy flames coming from the west unit (5110), extending from the ground floor to the roof and spreading quickly due to strong winds. The adjacent unit (5108) caught fire as a result, and the heat of the fire also damaged the siding of a neighboring home. Firefighters extinguished the blaze by 10:37.

One individual was taken to a hospital facility with non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, one dog was found inside by firefighters and transported to a local vet for evaluation and later passed away.

The residents of both twin home units were displaced due to significant fire and smoke damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
