Former controller for Salon Professional Academy sentenced to 30 days in jail for embezzling money

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — A Fargo woman changes her plea to guilty to felony theft charges for embezzling money from her former employer, Salon Professional Academy.
Alexis Engelking was sentenced to three years but will only have to serve 30 days in jail and 18 months of probation.
Restitution will be determined at a later date.
Court records show the 35-year-old Engelking as controller for the business would alter and inflate her own paychecks.
Co-owner Jodi Brown told detectives that she did approve a $12,000 private loan so Engelking could close on a new house, but she issued herself two, $12,000 payments.
It was later learned she used one of the payments to pay back money she stole while working at Fargo Linoleum.
The charge in that case was reduced to a misdemeanor during sentencing in July and Engelking was given five days in jail.
