Valley City man facing child porn charges to change his plea next week

VALLEY CITY, N.D. (KVRR) — A Valley City man arrested this past spring for having child sexual abuse material will avoid a trial by changing his plea.

50-year-old Mitchell Kohler pleaded not guilty in June to five counts of possession of certain materials prohibited.

His change of plea hearing is set for Monday, one day before his trial was set to begin.

A cybertip from a service provider about questionable content on its servers resulted in his arrest.

During a police interview, Kohler said he digitally altered images to resemble minors.

Investigators said there was no indication that any local kids were physically harmed.
