MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – City engineers from both Fargo and Moorhead are seeking community input regarding a pedestrian bridge linking the two cities.

The bridge will connect 40th Avenue South in Fargo with 50th Avenue South in Moorhead, near the Trollwood Performing Arts School and Bluestem Amphitheater.

The project is set to cost a little over $7 million, and while the dimensions and locations of the bridge are basically set, there are many aesthetic elements of the design yet to be decided.

That’s why officials held an open house at the performing arts school on Thursday evening, to solicit feedback and ideas.

“The renderings do look really good, sometimes the feedback we get is that the design is done – so why are we soliciting input? They really are just renderings, and there is a lot of flexibility in the aesthetics,” said Tom Knakmuhs, engineer for the city of Fargo.

The current timeline is for construction on the bridge to begin in the spring of 2027, with it being completed sometime near the middle of 2028.
