Search for missing woman on Spirit Lake Reservation ends

FORT TOTTEN, N.D. (KVRR) — A sad update in the search for 20-year-old Danica “Tynee” White on Spirit Lake Reservation.

Family members confirming on social media that her body has been found, writing “Tynee is on her journey now”.

Spirit Lake Tribe says White’s body was found and recovered from the waters shortly before 3 p.m. following an extensive search.

Chairwoman Lonna Jackson-Street said, “Our hearts are heavy with this news.  Danica was a vibrant young woman with her whole life ahead of her.”

Family members are thanking all of those who took part in searches since she was reported missing on Saturday in Fort Totten.

They would also appreciate your thoughts, prayers, and privacy during this difficult time.

A Native American ceremony in her honor is planned tonight in Fort Totten at 8 p.m. at Employment and Training.

White was reported missing on November 1 after calling 911 around 6 a.m. saying she needed help.

The search involved 22 federal, state and tribal agencies and approximately 15,000 acres were covered.

A fund to help the family has been set up at Gate City Bank in Devils Lake under Benefit of Danica Tynee White.
