Nearly 200 acres of land up for sale in Minnesota will fund K-12 schools

CLEARWATER, Minn. (KVRR) –The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is offering up five parcels of state lands for sale. Four of the properties for sale are school trust lands.
The school trust lands for sale are in Carlton, Clearwater, St. Louis, and Wadena counties.
Each year, the state evaluates its current land holdings to decide what land can be put up for sale.
The evaluation is to improve conservation, recreation, and economic opportunities.
The nearly 200 acres for sale will go into the Permanent School fund, which supports 850,000 students in K-12 schools.
“So that’s kind of our primary goal is to make sure that we find…we’re selling a good amount of the lands we’re offering. And we’re able to then either deposit those proceeds in the permanent school fund or in other ways to help us advance our land management goals,” said Kerstin Larson, Strategic Land Asset Management (SLAM) Supervisor.
The land will be available for bid beginning on December 2nd on the Minnesota DNR website.
