Connections Tourism: Fargo Theatre lands major restoration matching grant

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Fargo Theatre has landed a major boost in funding through North Dakota’s 2025 Tourism and Community Enhancement Grants.

The historic theatre was awarded a $500,000 Historic Theater Restoration Matching Grant.

It was built in 1926 and is home to the “Mighty Wurlitzer” theatre pipe organ.

The building is on the National Register of Historic Places.

Ellendale has also landed a $250,000 restoration grant for the Ellendale Opera House.

It was first opened in 1909!

Also in our region, a nearly $17,000 improvement grant was awarded to Park River Theater Association.

The Department of Commerce grants were funded by the 69th Legislative Assembly to enhance tourism and preserve historic landmarks across the state.
