OSAKIS, MN – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says a man’s trailer suffered significant fire damage after a routine procedure went awry.

Authorities say they responded to the property of 52-year-old Scott Witt just before 4 P.M. on December 5. Witt had been attempting to thaw water lines underneath his trailer when its insulation caught on fire.

The Osakis Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire on Cavalry Road NE, but the trailer still sustained extensive damage. Nobody was injured.

The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the property owner.
