Santa Sets Up “Snowfari” at the Red River Zoo

Not only could children meet with Saint Nick himself, but they could also create gifts for their favorite zoo animals.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Santa has made another stop in the Fargo-Moorhead area – this time to make sure the animals get their presents as well.

That’s part of what went on at Santa’s Snowfari, held at the Red River Zoo on December 6.

Santa was there in person to hear wishes and take pictures.

There was also sledding, hot chocolate and s’mores – and even a chance for the kids to wrap gifts for the zoo animals.

“A lot of our animals enjoy the cold weather because they’re cold weather species,” explained Paige Tetzloff, Education Program Manager for the zoo.

“We’ve been making gifts for animals. We wrap them with glue sticks, so our animals aren’t ingesting anything they’re not supposed to have. We put some of their different diet in there, so they have the opportunity to kind of forage and pick out their favorite things.”

As with most Red River Zoo events, Santa’s Snowfari is held on multiple weekends to make sure everyone gets a chance to attend.

It will also take place on December 13 beginning at 11 A.M.
