Police identify woman killed in Grand Forks hostage situation

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) –The woman shot and killed by an officer during a hostage situation in Grand Forks on Friday night has been identified as 47-year-old Alice Nesdahl of Larimore, North Dakota.

Grand Forks County Sheriff’s Office says she was shot by Deputy Cameron Bridger.

Police were called to an apartment at 1426 10th Avenue North when Nesdahl said she was holding a man hostage.

The sheriff’s office say she was was not cooperative and refused to talk with officers outside.

When Deputy Bridger entered the apartment, she raised a knife towards the hostage’s neck.

Deputy Bridger fired four rounds, hitting Nesdahl multiple times. She was pronounced dead at Altru Hospital.
