Update: Moorhead man arrested by SWAT after standoff in north Fargo home

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Red River Valley SWAT Team moved in to arrest a Moorhead man during an incident in Fargo.

24-year-old Damon Peterson was arrested for preventing arrest and on a warrant for a parole violation on a previous burglary conviction.
It all started around 2:30 this afternoon near the 1500 block of north Broadway.

Fargo Police were called in to assist Minnesota Department of Corrections in locating Peterson.

When he refused to exit the home, SWAT was called in and the standoff ended around 6:15 p.m. with his arrest.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Police are asking the public to avoid the area near the 1500 block of north Broadway due to what they call an ongoing incident.

They did not provide any other details in their social media message and release to the media at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.

A KVRR Local News crew on scene says police are blocking at least one street in the area and not allowing pedestrians to use the sidewalk.

Police say more information will be released as it becomes available.
