Still no suspects identified in drive-by shooting at Winona LaDuke home

The Minnesota BCA continues investigating

BECKER COUNTY, Minn. (KVRR) – Indigenous rights activist Winona LaDuke says the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension collected “plenty” of evidence in the investigation of November’s drive-by shooting at her home in Becker County.

But LaDuke says no one has been able to identify any suspects.

LaDuke wasn’t home at the time, but three teenage grandchildren were there when several rounds were fired into the home. Numerous empty cartridges from two different guns were found.

LaDuke told KVRR Local News that she’s not sure if the shooting was random or a targeted attack.

“My grandchildren could have been murdered. They could have been killed,” LaDuke said.

“I’m just grateful that our family is safe and we’ve taken more precautions. I have not heard that there’s any breaks in the case or ballistics evidence, which they did collect plenty of.”

LaDuke says she wants to continue supporting law enforcement but says it was disappointing when she was told that the case isn’t a priority because “no one got killed.”

She urges anyone with information to contact the BCA or the Becker County Sheriff.
