Moorhead American Legion Plans Expansion, Begins Fundraising
The Legion recently acquired land to the west of their current location and are excited about the possibilities provided by so much more space.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – The American Legion in Moorhead has big plans for expansion – and they kicked off those efforts this weekend with a special breakfast fundraiser.
The Legion has acquired the parcel of land to the west of the current building, which used to house a nursing home.
They say they now have room to double their current footprint and have begun preliminary talks with local contractors and building suppliers about how best to expand that space.
However, to do that, they’ll need money – so on Sunday, they offered their usual breakfast fare with a slightly more elevated twist to try and draw in more customers.
“It just started out with the dream of being able to acquire the land to the west. When the opportunity came when the nursing home closed, we put in an offer and they accepted the offer, and so we’re so excited,” said Susan Schroeder, post commander.
“We’re looking at the possibility of an event center out there,” she added.
Other plans for the hypothetical space include an outdoor stage for concerts and office space they would like to rent out to the Moorhead VFW.
